Serious Transformation

What was once an empty lot was transformed into an inviting front yard for this approximately 2,850 square foot farmhouse-inspired retreat located in Palmetto Bluff in South Carolina.

First-Rate Front Porch

The appealing front porch includes a custom-made swing for enjoying the fresh air and views of the neighborhood, a custom front door with planter pots on each side, and a copper gas lantern that provides pleasant illumination from above.

Lovely Landscaping

The local flowers and plants that line the walkway to the front door add color and texture to the front yard. The outdoor spaces of the home are equipped with smart technology that monitors the weather and conditions in the area, with an irrigation controller that uses real-time weather data to automate watering and allow the user to turn on the sprinklers through a smart phone.

Look Up

The front porch’s copper gas lantern has a yoke bracket that makes hanging a gas light safe and beautiful. Guests might be surprised to find this home’s front porch has a blue ceiling. “There’s this old wives’ tale in the area that if you paint your ceilings blue, a shade of blue, it will keep spirits away,” says designer Tiffany Brooks.

Charming Custom Swing

The custom swing on the front porch is secured to the ceiling with ropes and a pulley system. “It has balusters on it, and it’s a bit rustic in feeling and reflects the local area,” says project manager Scott Branscom.

User-Friendly Driveway

Instead of a hard surface that sheds a lot of water, pea gravel was used for the home’s driveway. The pea gravel allows the rain to hit and be absorbed, eliminating worry about drainage and runoff.

Cool Ride

Best of Both Worlds

The plug-in hybrid SUV with ample cargo space and a powerful engine also includes LED headlamps and front sport brakes, for a stylish ride that combines the ultimate in comfort with top-of-the-line performance.

Nice Design Detail

Soffits were extended in the design of this farmhouse-inspired retreat, to allow for shade on the windows.

Coordinated Style

Both the home and garage feature a long-lasting metal roof. The layout of the property allows the house and garage to enjoy a close proximity and similar style, but each structure has a personality of its own.

Shared Space

The front pea gravel driveway provides a link between the home and garage, and offers space for cars to easily enter and exit the garage.

Easy Maintenance

The flowers in the window box stay in tip-top shape and properly watered thanks to the home’s smart irrigation system.

Classic Charm

Two copper gooseneck lights on each side of the garage’s front door illuminate the area and fit with this farmhouse-inspired property. An additional copper gooseneck light was used above the custom wood barn door on the side of the garage.

Lasting First Impression

The architecture of this home built into a woodland retreat and the beauty of the new landscaping create a lasting first impression. “I always like the yard to blend into the surrounding environment,” says project manager Scott Branscom. “We tend to use local plants and flowers that fit the area, and here we also used pine straw for the ground cover.”
