15 Cozy Winter Throws to Add to Your Home
These throws are ready for lazy Sundays.
One of the easiest ways to celebrate the change of seasons and update your home's decor is to add a cozy winter blanket to your bed. A winter blanket can work with your existing bedding or replace your bedding altogether if you're ready for a big change.
Here are 15 of our favorites for all different styles and budgets.
FRINGE, TASSELS + POMPOMS
For boho lovers, blankets with a fringe, tassel or pompom edge are a great way to add interest and texture to a space. These blankets would work well in a vintage-inspired or midcentury modern-style home. They might not be the best choice if you happen to have a dog or a cat who likes to scratch, but for those without pets (or with well-behaved pets), they're perfect.
Care: Tassels, fringe or pompoms make these blankets far too delicate for standard machine-washing. They will need to be spot-cleaned or dry cleaned.

STRIPES + DOTS
Blankets featuring stripes or dots are a great choice for a more traditional-style home, but they also work well with a modern or minimalist design theme. Stripes, in particular, are a great choice if you’re looking for a more gender-neutral type of bedding. Both also tend to pair well with a variety of existing bedding, should you want to use any of the blankets as a simple add-on in your bedroom.
Care: All of these blankets can be machine washed and dryed.

FAUX FUR + SHEEPSKIN
These blankets will all bring a cabin-chic look to your space, as well as provide some extra coziness for any bedroom. While all of these choices are faux fur, it’s often hard to tell the difference between faux and the real thing. These blankets typically come in more neutral color schemes, making it easier to pair them with any of your existing bedding.
Care: Because these blankets are faux fur and are created from man-made materials, they can all be machine washed on a delicate cycle and dryed on low heat or permanent press.

A chunky knit blanket can feel a bit like a cozy sweater for your bed. And who wouldn’t want a sweater for their bed? Much like the sweaters we wear, these blankets often come with the same sort of knit designs, such as cable knit or loopy knit. These blankets are often available in a variety of colors, making them a great go-to no matter what your home’s color scheme or general style is.
Care: These blankets are made from either cotton or acrylic fibers (much like a normal sweater). While dry cleaning is recommended, you also might be able to launder your knit blankets in the delicate cycle with cold water. Hang to dry or use a low heat setting.

If you’re looking for an especially warm winter blanket, you might want to go for a wool blanket. Though much more chic than the blankets you might remember from camp, they are just as versatile. Much like knit blankets, they come in a variety of patterns and colors and can work with almost any design scheme.
Care: While we did include one washable blanket (though even that one is hang-dry only), typical 100-percent wool blankets are dry-clean only.
